The first thing we do when we arrive on this earth is to breathe, which is to inspire - to breathe in (inhale). The last thing we do when we leave this earth is to breathe out, which is to expire (exhale). It's just as important throughout the full earth experience.
The body is naturally conditioned to heal itself through homeostasis, which seeks to bring the body in balance with itself. When there is dis-ease, this balance is interrupted. Deep rhythmic breathing is a core tool to help restore the balance in repleting the cells that in turn sends oxygen to the organs to fight whatever foreign agent that has invaded the body.
In applying various breathing techniques, it can help to relax, lowering the harmful effects of the stress hormone cortisol on your body, lower the heart rate, lower the blood pressure, manage post traumatic stress disorder, and a number of other benefits. One of the most noted is stress management.
